Stan Conley: i was going to say if you have the money sure go for it. i've always wanted to go to australia. it's probably a lot like here though just with funny accents. it's good they speak english though makes things easier. you have to decide your own finances and how much of a rush you're in to graduate. It took me 7 years or more to get a bachelors degree but then again i'm a total slacker and pretty much unemployed now. i have a useless degree though. the only good job i ever had was straight out of college i went to teach in china. I never studied abroad though. I only need to go to australia and anarctica and i will have visited every continent. it depends how you live now too... i don't want to convince you but look at it like this. how much more money is it going to be? what kind of school u go to now? do you live on campus or at home? If you go to a private college now paying 30k a year or so, maybe 20-25 and live on campus or in an apartment. those are the sa! me expenses you'd pay over there. the plane is only 1000 bucks. you spend 30k anyway, whats another 1000? hotels and living expenses are often the largest part of it, if you have to pay for a dorm here or there anyway it doesn't matter much. go to china live like a king for 3000$. it can be a little dirty and completely alien but thats why we travel. i wouldn't suggest that last bit actually as it is difficult and not all fun time. Some students actually take their tests in english even indians take tests in english in china. they don't have all languages but you can choose english or chinese probably. a month is not a lot of time. i went to work in china in like 2 weeks (beware people rushing you in and saying don't worry about it just come, they are desperate for a reason), but now i'm thinking 2 months is not enough time for me to move to buffalo to start grad school. time is one thing, money another, you seem hesitant. i often have big ideas and as the time comes i get ! nervous. part of the reason some may rush you like i did in ch! ina (i was happy to pick up and go), is that they know most will get cold feet, they want you to just drop it and come not that they want to trick you (in my own case), your rush of course is your own doing. you could go there in the fall and have 6 months to plan it out if you're serious. then again if you don't pick up and go now you may never. for better or worse who knows. maybe diving in head 1st gets things done sometimes....Show more

I currently am a SEIT in NYC.First, in order to work as a SEIT, you must have your Master's degree in Special Ed, along with state certification in the field that you are teaching. Payment varies according to the agency you work for. I will estimate that the average hourly wage is $60/hr.I work 1-to-1 with preschool age children (3-5 yr olds). Before reaching me, all of these children first are evaluated. After the comprehensive evaluation, it is determined if the child has special needs. If so, an individualized education program (IEP) in constructed. This IEP lists goals and objectives the child needs to be working on. As a SEIT, it is my responsibility to go into the preschool/home and work daily on these individualized goals. I am also involved with being a consult to parents, school staff, and CPSE. Purchase a really good DayMinder for detailed notes with a to-do list. Keep a separate journal of what you did that day. You won't remember past two weeks with all the moving around. In a bind with a supervisor or parent? Pull it out and you'll look as if you are on top of things always. EDIT - Itinerant means that the teacher moves from school to school. It may be 2.5 days at Smith Elementary and 2.5 days at Jones Middle. It might be mornings @ Washington High and afternoons at Smith Elementary. You get the idea.
