Question about polls:?

Jefferson Sarson: Well, I am older than you and, have never been polled about anything either. Personally, I don't believe all this polling rhetoric. Think about it, if four people are polled, three say yea and one says ney then 75% are in favor. Then the reports are issued of 75% pro whatever. It is nothing new, they have been snookering the public for decades :)

Arlene Maycumber: Polls are skewed from the start. So many use a small portion and assume the rest go along in the same percentage. As an example you ask small town America is crime is up and 50% say no. Then the pollsters say 50% of Americans believe crime is not up.

William Vickerman: I was polled once about the baseball strike. polls take a very small sample and extrapolate from that

Julieta Suleiman: if you pic the people you are going to poll you can have whatever answer you want

Arlen Lopiccalo: I've been doing statistical analysis for 20 years and I can guarantee you can get num! bers to say anything you want them to say.

Kirk Coolbeth: Yes, twice. Once recently about the Presidential candidates, and once in 2000 for the same thing, both by telephone, and I think both of them were Gallup. If you access the actual source of the polls, they usually have an accounting of who they poll and how they do it.

Amada Greising: Yes

Susan Rambo: Really you have never been polled? Geez, it seems like once the elections start getting near I get pollers calling our house daily and sometimes more than once a day. It becomes very annoying.
