How can I find out what hardware is on a Laptop?

An Cardine: System Information will do this for you. It is in All Programs, Accessories, System Tools

Virgil Loatman: Open Control Panel, click System and Maintenance, find Device Manager link. IMHO it's better to just check manufacturer site to find out it's specs

Hye Caulley: I suggest go to this site first and download Driver Magician, it wont take long because the software was small. Install and run it. It will not only collect info about your hardwares, but also get all their drivers. Simply save all this hardware drivers, and refer to it when you install a new system. Here's the site: www.drivermagician.com

Donnie Bolio: my computer, system information, device manager

Irma Poiter: just go to google and type in Inspiron 6400 driver downloads and to make sure you got them all right click on my computer then click hardware then click device manager that will show you all your hardware if the driver is not installed or not working right it will h! ave a yellow question mark next to it hope this helps

Cody Shimko: For a small utility that puts everything (hardware & software) into easy to find & read format, try ' SIW ' Get it from 'snapfiles.com/freeware.I've switched an Acer 5050 from Vista > XP and you're right: getting the drivers was an ordeal.Once I did get them all installed, I backed up those using 'WinDriver', also available from 'snapfiles'; put them onto a single CD (with backup off site) to keep with the unit just in case. Both above mentioned app's are free....Show more
