Christiane Cattano: It's a good idea to stay away from using family members or friends. You can use former employers, a teacher, someone you knew through a community organization or church group, etc. You should ask the people ahead of time if they are willing to serve as a reference. This will also serve to give them a heads up so that they are not blindsided with a phone call out of the blue. Jacinta Moitoso: They can be none of those things. I know it would be hard to think of references, but thin! k of someone who knows you really well, like a family friend. also, another reference would be someone important from your first job.

Caleb Chapman: The name of any person, who can certify your character and conduct, and even if related to you can be given as Reference !!

Sylvie Snetting: NEVER put family/relatives as references. Use the parents of the children you babysat for....your teachers, yes counselors. Make sure you ASK them before you put them down. List their complete name, title, address and phone number. Good luck!
